CUTLINE ONLY

(aftermath 4) – Utility workers Saturday on Longfellow Road in Gorham string wires downed by Friday’s severe storm, which left widespread damage in its wake. High winds toppled a huge tree, left, baring its roots and the road littered with trees was only one road of many left impassable in Gorham. Central Maine Power estimated that 9,800 customer accounts were left without power, mostly in the Gorham and Standish areas. Power was restored by the end of the weekend. The Gorham Public Works facility, located on Public Works Drive off the Huston Road, is accepting tree debris for disposal. The debris pile is located at the end of the road past the fuel depot and to the left. There is no diameter restriction on logs, but log lengths should kept to an 8-foot maximum.
