A Buxton man is facing charges of gross sexual assault after authorities say he engaged in a sexual act with a young girl that he lived with.
Buxton police arrested Joshua Shuman, 23, for allegedly engaging in a sexual act with a girl under the age of 12, according to the police department.
The state Department of Health and Human Services notified the police department of the alleged incident on Aug. 22, and police arrested Shuman on Aug. 28 after an initial investigation.
Buxton officer Christine LaBranche is investigating the case further and more counts could be brought against Shuman, Buxton officer Michael Grovo said.
“It might have happened more than once,” Grovo said on Wednesday.
Shuman was held at the Buxton Police Department and released on $2,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in York County District Court later this month.
