The city’s fall yard debris program runs from Oct. 27-Nov. 8. During that time Public Services Department employees will be collecting properly bagged leaves curbside. Leaves must be in biodegradable bags to be collected.
Residents may bring leaves and brush to the Public Services garage during the program weeks. After the program period, only leaves will be accepted at the Public Services garage during the month of November, including Saturdays, 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
Brush will also be collected curbside beginning Oct. 27. All brush and small limbs must be placed out for collection on Oct. 27. There is a one-truck limit per residence for brush and small wood. No large wood or stumps will be collected.
For more information, go to the city’s Web site or call Public Services at 854-0660.
Library notes
The library is holding its annual book sale Oct. 16-20. The library collects books all year, and assembles the books in the Gathering Room in October.
“This year’s sale should top last year’s,” said library Director Karen Valley. “We have many, many books that will satisfy readers.”
All the money collected from the sale of the materials is used to purchase of new materials for the library.
Also, starting this month, patrons of the Children’s and Young Adults’ rooms can write their own reviews of new books and keep the book they review. The program is called “Walker Talkers.” It’s a great way to let the library staff know what books you like and don’t like. Teens can also post their reviews online. Call 854-0630 (ext. 254) or stop by for more information.
