The Westbrook Fire Department will host an alternative heating seminar for residents on Thursday, Oct. 9, to discuss safe methods of heating and weatherizing homes this winter.

The free seminar will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the Public Safety Building.

Roger Bonderson, of People’s Regional Opportunity Program (PROP), will give tips on how to weatherize a home.

Capt. Chuck Jarrett, the city’s fire inspector, and Code Enforcement Officer Rick Gouzie will talk about the safe use of different kinds of fuel and the installation of electric heaters and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
