The Maine American Legion is soliciting high school students to participate in the national American Legion Constitutional Speech Contest.

Students in grades 9-12, in public and private schools or home-schooled, can participate. It is an opportunity to develop leadership qualities and enhance public speaking skills while also earning $20,000 in scholarships.

The winner of the local post contest will advance to the district contest. The winner of the district contest will advance to the state contest. The state winner will then compete in the national contest in Indianapolis, Ind.
