Faiman, Gray to wed

Arlene and Lester Faiman of Hamden, Conn., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Karen Beth Faiman, to Eric D. Gray, son of Daniel and Brenda Gray of Westbrook. He is the grandson of Marion Fysh and the late Leroy Fysh and the late Arthur and Marcia Gray.

He a mechanical engineer at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford. He earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Karen Beth Faiman is the granddaughter of Gertrude Kahn and the late Louis Kahn and the late Irving and Frieda Faiman. The bride-to-be is an assistant principal in the Hartford public schools. She received an master

s degree in administration from the University of Connecticut.

After first asking permission from her parents weeks before, Gray proposed while visiting Gertrude Kahn, an important person in the life of the bride-to-be.

A wedding will be in March.

Wescott, Toppi wed

Rachel Wescott and Benjamin Toppi were married Sept. 27.

She had been honored with a surprise bridal shower given by her sister, Marcia Wescott in August. A luncheon was followed by games and gifts were then opened. Cake, coffee and tea were served afterward.

Duddy to entertain seniors

Award-winning Maine country singer Jose Duddy will perform for Westbrook Senior Citizens following a roast pork dinner at noon on Monday at Millbrook Estates, 300 East Bridge St.

The seniors are planning two upcoming trips on Wednesdays next month. On Nov. 5, they will visit Hollywood Slots in Bangor and on Nov. 12 they’ll travel to see the Silver Sizzle Review in Foxborough, Mass. The review features the over-50 members of the Rockettes, the famous dance troupe based at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Benefit concert reminder

To benefit the city’s fuel assistance program, the interfaith community of churches is sponsoring a concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Westbrook High School auditorium. Tickets, available at Trinity Lutheran Church, City Hall, Hannaford and Vineyard Christian Fellowship, are $7 at the door or $5 in advance.

Sallies to speak

The Rev. Robert Sallies will be in the pulpit at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday at Unitarian Universalist Church, 719 Main St.

Guests welcome

Westbrook Woman’s Club will have a guest day at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.

Women of all ages, who would like to learn more about the activities and projects of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the local club, are invited to attend.

Jane Shaw, president of the Maine Federation of Women’s Clubs, and Mary Libby, firstst vice president of the local club and the Maine LEADS candidate to the international convention, will share their experiences at the recent GFWC convention in Chicago, Ill.

Refreshments will be served following the meeting.
