I am writing this letter in support of Sen. Phil Bartlett, who is running for re-election in Senate District 6.

Phil has been a proven leader in the Maine Senate, working across party lines to lower energy costs through his chairmanship of the Utilities and Energy Committee. Phil knows that Maine can protect its natural resources that we enjoy and be a leader in promoting alternative energy. Sen. Bartlett has sponsored legislation to increase wind generation in Maine while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preserving our most scenic places. Phil led the effort to implement the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative to reduce climate change while encouraging energy efficiency and renewable energy development. He has also supported legislation to reduce toxins from consumer products and promote the use of safer chemicals in schools.

Phil’s hard work and common-sense approach to solving problems have earned him respect from his colleagues in both parties. Phil has a keen sense of working with his fellow legislators from all parties in brokering a consensus on important issues for Scarborough, the rest of his Senate district and the state of Maine. I know that Phil will continue to serve with the utmost integrity that will benefit all the residents of Senate District 6.
