We all realize that Edgar Allen Beem is a left-wing nut ,but he is getting worse. In his anti-all things American rant about Detroit and its failure to produce 100-mpg vehicles, he fails to mention that his favorite country, Japan, does not produce these vehicles, either. This is simply because technology cannot be legislated. If the technology existed for an internal combustion engine to get 100 mpg, it would have been done, not just in the U.S., but in Asia and Europe. (Yes, I know, someone did have this technology, but Big Oil stole his patent and had him killed.)
Further,there is no “little gizmo” that converts water into gas. What`s in his next column, an expose of the Dick Cheney/Halliburton wind machine that President Bush used to destroy New Orleans?
