The photo on the left shows a view of Main Street looking west from in front of Don’s Bakery (Don Cipriano) at 877 Main.

The vacant lot on the left was the site of the old Star Theatre, which had recently been demolished. The building next to it was the old Odd Fellows Building, owned and operated by American Legion Post No.197. The next building was an apartment house and then Cyr’s Beauty Shop, which was located on the corner of Mechanic Street. These buildings were later demolished as part of the urban renewal project. Photo on the right shows the same area today: Martini Lane Beverage and Redemption Store and Hub Furniture Co. at the site of the Star Theatre and the Legion Building with a municipal parking lot on the site of the apartment house and Cyr’s Beauty Shop.
