JOHN THE PENQUIN

MY FAVE

City Councilor John O’Hara will do anything for a laugh – or a good a cause. Here, he happily dons a penguin suit Tuesday in hopes that Shaw’s customers in Westbrook will buy raffle tickets for a fundraiser to support the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. He’ll be back at the supermarket on Thursday on the same mission, and in the same outfit. The tickets are $1 each and $5 for six. Raffle prizes include $50 gift certificates to Shaw’s and L.L. Bean, as well as a Portland Pirates jersey and a snowboard. The winners will be drawn on Feb. 20, the day before the program’s polar dip fundraiser on Segabo Lake in Raymond. According to Shaw’s employee Mark Shapp, the Main Street store raised $10,000 for charity last year, more than any other Shaw’s store in Maine and New Hampshire. “We’re hoping to do it again this year,” he said.
