The Westbrook High boys hockey team moved to 5-2 with a 6-0 win over Marshwood (3-6) on Saturday at the USM Ice Arena in Gorham.
The game was 1-0 entering the third period, but Scott Heath’s hat trick in the final period broke the game wide open.
Shayne Nealey gave the Blue Blazes a 1-0 lead in the first period, assisted by Tommy Lemay, who finished with four assists. After a scoreless second period, Tyler Rand scored to start the third off an assist by Nealey. Heath then scored three goals in a row – two of them on power plays – over a nine-minute stretch. Lemay assisted on all three and Steve McKeeman added assists on the first two. Josh Caron was also credited with an assist on Heath’s third goal.
Rand completed the scoring in the final minutes of the game, converting a feed from Nealey. Westbrook outshot Marshwood 24-17. Goalie Preston Peabbles made 17 stops to earn the shutout in net for the Blazes.
