For the third year in a row, Marian Sturtevant has dedicated the winter months to knitting hats for people who can’t afford to buy their own. Last year, from her home in Stroudwater Heights off Saco Street, she made 250. “My goal this year is 300,” she said. Each hat takes her about two hours to complete, and so far, she’s finished 39 of them in different patterns and colors. Sturtevant has given the hats to St. John’s church in South Portland and the Preble Resource Center in Portland. “I just really enjoy doing it,” she said.

Made with love
