The photo on the left, which shows Main Street looking east from Saco Street, was taken around 1900. The building on the right is the Westbrook Trolley Car Barn that was destroyed by fire on Dec. 31, 1905. The building was later rebuilt and continued serving as a car barn until the Portland Railroad Co. closed the Westbrook car barn in 1931. The building was a Cities Service gas station and later became Yudy’s Tire Co. Yudy’s went out of business and the building now houses several businesses.

The distant building in the center of the photo is the Vallee Block, located on Main Street at Bridge Street. The building on the left is still standing as an apartment house on Main Street at Mill Lane.
