Wynn joins Woman’s Club

Rena Wynn was welcomed as a new member of the GFWC Westbrook Woman’s Club at its annual midwinter luncheon in January at Keeley’s.

Following lunch, Susan Poulin, an award-winning writer and performer, entertained 35 members and six guests.

Sock’n Buskin in festival

The Westbrook High School Sock’n Buskin Drama Club will be performing “An Overpraised Season,” in this year’s Regional One Act Drama Festival.

The festival will be held on Saturday, March 7, at Noble High School, 388 Somersworth Road, North Berwick.

Last year the Westbrook club won the regional division and went on to compete in the All State Festival.

Food drive winners

Congratulations to Alissa Dirrigl of Remstar and Chris Hilton of Cornwell Tools for having their names drawn as winners of Community Food Drive Champions hats and $25 gift certificates to Hoglund’s Countryside Butchers.

The yearlong food drive benefits the Westbrook Food Pantry. Monthly donations can be dropped off at CCB Inc., 65 Bradley Drive, Westbrook. Donate four items in a month and register for the monthly drawing. Items include any canned, dried, boxed, jarred or nonperishable food item. The next delivery date is Tuesday, March 31.

Tim Layne, operations administrator at CCB Inc., said this week that the food pantry recently had an additional 40 families sign up – “the need is there and growing.”

Library closing Saturdays

Due to budget constraints, the Warren Memorial Library, 479 Main St., will be closing on Saturdays beginning March 7 until further notice.

New hours are Monday and Wednesday, 1- 8 p.m.,

and Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Wescott on dean’s list

William Wescott of Westbrook has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.
