A member of the Westbrook Fire Department who was demoted as a result of allegations of sexual harassment from two female firefighters will fight the disciplinary action in front of a state board Tuesday.

Donald Trafford, who was demoted from lieutenant to firefighter in December, filed a union grievance with the city after receiving disciplinary action, which also included a one-week suspension. His hearing will be in front of the state’s Board of Arbitration and Conciliation.

Six other firefighters were also disciplined as a result of allegations made by Lisa Theberge and Kathy Rogers. The punishments ranged from a letter of reprimand to a 60-day suspension. No one else in the department was demoted.

Theberge and Rogers have been on administrative leave from the department since September. According to their attorney, Rebecca Webber, they still intend to return to work.
