A Falmouth man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run outside Mill Side Tavern earlier this month.

Douglas J. Smilie, 47, was arrested April 9 on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated reckless conduct after being identified as the driver who jumped the curb on Cumberland Street and hit a pedestrian on the sidewalk.

Police Chief Bill Baker said Smilie has an extensive criminal history that includes previous convictions for robbery, arson, kidnapping, aggravated assault, burglary and theft.

Smilie’s vehicle has been located and impounded, according to Baker. Smilie remained in Cumberland County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon.
