The short and sweet spring sports season continues to produce memorable moments for Mid-Coast teams and athletes. Here’s a glimpse of how things stand:

Brunswick’s baseball team continues to sizzle. Last Friday, the Dragons were 2-1 home winners over Lewiston and Monday, they improved to 7-1 on the year with an 8-4 victory at Hampden Academy. Brunswick (first in the latest Eastern Class A Heal Points standings) was home with Oxford Hills Wednesday, host Leavitt Friday and visit Mt. Ararat Monday.

The Eagles are 10th in the standings. They fell 2-0 at home to Edward Little last Friday and lost 3-2 at Bangor Monday to drop to 2-6 on the year. Mt. Ararat was home with Cony Wednesday, travels to Oxford Hills Friday and plays host to Brunswick Monday.

Morse is still looking to get in the win column. A 7-4 home loss to Leavitt Friday was followed by a 9-1 setback at Skowhegan Monday, which dropped the Shipbuilders to 0-8 (and 15th in the Heals). Morse hosted Edward Little Wednesday, visits Cony Friday and welcomes Oxford Hills Monday.

On the girls’ side of the diamond, Brunswick is ninth in the Eastern A Heals with a 4-4 mark. The Dragons have won two in a row behind an offensive explosion: 15-1 at home over Lewiston last Friday and 20-3 at Hampden Monday. Brunswick was home with Oxford Hills Wednesday, host Leavitt Friday and visit Mt. Ararat Monday.

The Eagles are 10th in the standings with a 3-5 mark. Losses to Edward Little (3-0 and Bangor (5-0) stretched Mt. Ararat’s losing skid to three games. The Eagles were home with Cony Wednesday (too late for print), travel to Oxford Hills Friday and play host to Brunswick Monday.

Morse is 13th in Eastern A with a 2-6 mark. Last Friday, the Shipbuilders blanked visiting Leavitt 4-0. Monday, Morse lost 7-0 at Skowhegan. The Shipbuilders hosted Edward Little Wednesday, visit Cony Friday and welcome Oxford Hills Monday.

Boys’ lacrosse

Brunswick’s boys’ lacrosse team improved to 7-0 with recent wins over Messalonskee (11-4), Oxford Hills (17-1) and Edward Little (9-4). The Dragons (first in the Eastern A Heals and fourth in the coaches’ poll) are at Cony Friday and host Lewiston Tuesday.

Morse improved to 5-2 Tuesday with a 15-3 rout of Camden. The Shipbuilders were coming off a hard-fought 14-12 loss to Mt. Blue. Morse (ninth in the coaches’ poll and fourth in the Eastern B Heals) is at Gardiner Friday and hosts Mountain Valley Tuesday.

Mt. Ararat fell to 4-2 Friday with a 7-6 loss to Messalonskee. The Eagles (third in the Eastern A Heals) were at Oxford Hills Tuesday (score wasn’t available at press time), host Edward Little Friday and visit Cony Tuesday.
