A Scarborough organization and two South Portland entities were among several groups, businesses and individuals honored last week with 2009 Maine Fitness Awards.
Maine Senior Games of Scarborough won the award in the Adult Category. National Semiconductor of South Portland won in the
Healthy Workplace-Medium Business Category.
South Portland’s Dyer Elementary School was a runner-up in the Youth-School Category, “Healthy Me, Healthy ME.”
Gov. John E. Baldacci announced the awards, which reward efforts to encourage physical activity throughout Maine, at a ceremony in Augusta on May 20. He was joined at the ceremony by the Governor’s Council on Physical Activity co-chairs, Dr. Erik N. Steele and Joan Benoit Samuelson.
