A former Congin School student gave back to his old school by building a shed for garden tools.

Keegan Goan, 17, dedicated the shed he built for his Eagle Scout project to the Congin School Friday. It will be used to store tools for a garden that teachers and students will grow vegetables in to donate to the Westbrook Food Pantry. A junior at Westbrook High School, Goan joined the scouts when he was 10 years old and encouraged Congin School students to do the same. He said during his time in the scouts he climbed mountains, sailed Key West and bicycled around Cape Cod.

Goan’s parents, Nancy and Greg Goan, who are both teachers at Westbrook schools, told him that Congin teachers had been looking for help to build a shed.

“It just felt perfect all around,” Goan said about the project, which he completed during Memorial Day weekend. “This is yours now. Take care of it,” he told the students.
