Shown at left is the house and barn that once stood at 399 Main St. Built in 1792 by Edward Gilman, the house was later occupied by the Raymond family from 1842 to 1939 – the year it was demolished to make way for an Esso gas station. Violette and Son later operated a Shell station at this location. Westbrook Service Center, right, presently occupies the site.
