Seven earn Bentley honors

Five students from Gorham have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., and two were named to the president’s list for extraordinary academic achievement.

Dean’s list students are: Maura Cullen Brady, a senior and economics-finance major; Nicole Danielle Roy, a senior and marketing major; Tristen Lee Sullivan, a senior and marketing major; Meghan Anne Norton, a junior and an economics-accounting major; Isaac Andrew Pease, a sophomore and an undecided business major.

On the president’s list are Matthew Fenton, a freshman, and Monique King, a sophomore. Each is an undecided business major.

‘Swing Night’

Gorham Centre of Movement, 19 State St., is hosting “Swing Night” 7:30-9 p.m. on Friday, July 17.

Free tunes at gazebo

The American Songbook Trio will be in concert 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, at the gazebo on the lawn at the Public Safety Building, 270 Main St.

Take a picnic, blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the show. The concert is part of a free summer concert series sponsored by Gorham Recreation Department.

The farm market opens at 5:30 p.m.

The Baxter Museum, 67 South St., Gorham, is open 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through August.

The museum, home of the Baxter family that produced a long-ago Maine governor, Percival Baxter, was built in 1797. Along with the Baxter Memorial Library, the home was given to the town in 1907 by Baxter’s father, James Phinney Baxter, who was born there in 1831. The museum collection features Baxter memorabilia in addition to other town historic artifacts.

Admission is free and donations are accepted.

U.S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of Public Debt reported on July 3 that the U.S. public debt was $11,490,988,069,885.84.
