SPRINGFIELD — Police say a Springfield man who terrorized his wife and fired an AK-47 was taken into custody without incident.

Police say 52-year-old Frank Ring is charged with terrorizing, obstructing the reporting of a crime and criminal mischief. Officers confiscated a loaded AK-47.

The Bangor Daily News says a half-dozen troopers and deputies went to Ring’s home after his wife dialed 911 late Wednesday to report that he was smashing things. Police say Ring grabbed the phone from his wife, and threatened to shoot anyone who came onto his property.

Officers say she fled with her children, and that one shot was fired in or near the house. Ring, who was released on bail Thursday, could not immediately be reached for comment.
