What’s Happening in District 51?

CUMBERLAND — The month of March held many special events for MSAD 51 students, particularly in the arts and robotic engineering.

Throughout the district, March was known as Celebration of the Arts Month.

Many different events occurred throughout the month, such as the Greely High School Band and Pops Concert, the Greely Middle School Concert and the annual “Poetry Jam” for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

The highlight of the month-long celebration of arts was the Family Arts Night on March 30, which featured musical performances, a demonstration by the Greely Color Guard, dance and theater workshops and community art projects. Student artwork was also on display around Greely Middle School.

The artwork of two MSAD 51 students were included in a special exhibit at the Portland Museum of Art. The Maine Art Education Association selected work by Sydney Shepard of the North Yarmouth Memorial School, and Carter Lawless of the Drowne Road School to be featured in the Youth Art Month Exhibition at the Portland Museum of Art.
