Richard Shain Cohen set out to show people that Henry was not the only accomplished member of Portland’s famed Longfellow family. So he wrote the book, “The Forgotten Longfellow: Man in the Shadows — The Saga of Alexander Longfellow Sr.” The book is the story of Henry’s brother, who was a topographer, artist, cartoonist, writer, and who sailed around the world and surveyed all of Casco Bay. Cohen will talk about the book Wednesday as part of the Portland Public Library’s Brown Bag Lecture Series.
