PORTLAND – Louie DiStasio scored 18 points for unbeaten Cheverus, which took command early and rolled to a 61-51 victory against visiting Deering in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolboy basketball game Saturday night.

The Stags (10-0) pressed at the start and opened an 18-5 lead by the end of the first quarter. Connor O’Neil added 11 points for the Stags.

Patrick Green led Deering (7-4) with 19 points.

PORTLAND 53, KENNEBUNK 30: Mike Herrick scored 13 points as the Bulldogs (6-4) beat the Rams (2-8) at Kennebunk. 

NOBLE 60, WINDHAM 39: Mitch Edmunds scored 10 of his 26 points in the third quarter for the Knights (3-9), who broke the game open with a 22-4 run against the Eagles (5-5) at Windham.

Brady Dodge added 12 points for Noble, which led 19-18 at halftime.

GORHAM 57, MASSABESIC 53: Zach Spiers scored 12 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as Gorham (2-8) rallied past Massabesic (0-10) at Waterboro.

The Mustangs, led by Ryan Dodge’s 21 points, were ahead by as many as 10 points in the second half.

SCARBOROUGH 52, SANFORD 36: Zach Bean had 16 points as the Red Storm (7-5) cruised past the Redskins (2-8) at Scarborough.

WAYNFLETE 42, TRAIP ACADEMY 40: Chris Burke scored five of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Flyers (7-4) edged the Rangers (6-6) at Portland.

Mitch Newlin also scored 13 for Waynflete, which led 25-16 at the half.

CAPE ELIZABETH 64, LAKE REGION 47: Theo Bowe scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half as the Capers (9-2) opened a 41-23 lead against the Lakers (2-9) at Naples.

Joey Doane finished with 14 points for Cape Elizabeth.

FALMOUTH 58, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 35: Jack Cooleen finished with 17 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots to lead the Yachtsmen (6-5) over the Raiders (2-10) at Falmouth.

Falmouth outscored Fryeburg 20-6 in the first quarter behind five points each from Alex Cattell and Mike Lafond.

GOULD ACADEMY 38, NYA 36: Taylor Peck-Moad scored 12 points for the Huskies (5-4), who held off the Panthers (4-7) at Bethel.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 77, FREEPORT 53: Adam Jensen scored 17 points and Josh Farynaz had 13 during a 45-27 run through the middle quarters as the Patriots (7-4) beat the Falcons (0-12) at Gray.

Jensen finished with 29 points. Farynaz had 19.

RICHMOND 59, PINE TREE ACADEMY 32: Mike Christie finished with 17 points, five assists and three steals to lead the Bobcats (9-1) past the Breakers (0-11) at Richmond.

ELAN 56, SACOPEE VALLEY 48: Jack Peters scored 23 of his 27 points in the second half and overtime as Elan (10-1) downed Sacopee Valley (1-10) at South Hiram.

YARMOUTH 68, POLAND 47: Josh Britten scored 21 points, including five 3-pointers, and Luke Pierce added 19 points, eight rebounds and eight assists as the Clippers (9-3) downed the Knights (5-6) at Yarmouth.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 55, FOREST HILLS 47: Jay Archer scored 28 points to lead Seacoast Christian (4-6) over Forest Hills (8-5) at Jackman.

MT. ARARAT 61, CONY 48: Josh Walker had 18 points and six assists as the Eagles (8-4) downed the Rams (6-6) at Topsham.

WISCASSET 64, MADISON 52: Ashton Benn had 17 points, and Jordan Jones scored nine of his 13 in the first half as Wiscasset (11-2) cruised to a 33-20 halftime lead over the Bulldogs (3-9) at Wiscasset.
