STANDISH – A 69-year-old man died yesterday following a single-car accident in Standish.

The man, whose identity has not been released pending notification of family, was driving south on Chadbourne Road at around 4:42 p.m. when his 1998 Chevrolet Blazer left the road and traveled down an embankment. The vehicle struck a tree, trapping the victim inside.

The man was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he died from his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
