WATERVILLE — Police late Saturday summonsed 53 Colby College students and charged them with illegal consumption of alcohol during a party at 16 Winter St.

Two more people who were not at the party were, in separate incidents, taken to a local hospital later in the evening after police received calls that they needed an ambulance, according to police Chief Joseph Massey. One was a Colby student and one was visiting someone on campus, he said.

Three students who rent the Winter Street apartment where the party was held were arrested and charged with providing a place for minors to consume alcohol, in addition to being summonsed for illegal consumption, he said.

The 58 are scheduled to appear in Waterville District Court at 1 p.m. Dec. 6, he said.

Colby Vice President Sally Baker said officials will gather all the names of the students charged and will follow up with each one.

“All will be subject to discipline on campus,” she said.
