Twin brothers from Bath who graduated from Morse High School in 1997 were each promoted recently to the rank of lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy.

Jamer and Jeremy Doughty, twin sons of Ray and Linda Doughty of West Bath, both attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., after their graduations from Morse High School, according to a Navy release.

In September, Jeremy Doughty, a Navy helicopter pilot serving as safety officer on board the USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) out of Norfolk, Va., was promoted to the rank of lieutenant commander.

At a Nov. 1 ceremony at the U.S. Naval Academy Officer’s Club, Jeremy Doughty was the promoting officer as his brother, Jamer, was promoted from lieutenant to lieutenant commander.

Jamer Doughty is an instructor of mechanical engineering at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
