MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Harrison Barnes scored a seasonhigh 26 points to help No. 5 North Carolina beat Texas 82- 63 on Wednesday night.
John Henson added 14 points for the Tar Heels (11-2), who won their fifth straight and avenged last season’s lastsecond loss to the Longhorns.
North Carolina went on a 13- 1 run to build a doubledigit lead midway through the first half and never looked back, turning a 39-23 halftime lead into a 24-point margin late in the game.
Barnes was coming off consecutive nine- point performances, but he made 9 of 15 shots and finished with 10 rebounds, part of UNC’s 49-34 advantage on the glass.
J’Covan Brown was one of three players with 16 points for Texas ( 9- 3), which shot just 35 percent and never recovered from a slow start.

Donte Poole scored 15 points and Murray State remained unbeaten in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams.
Ivan Aska added 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists to help the Racers (13- 0, 1-0) to their best start in 75 years. The only better start was 16-0 in 1935-36.
Myles Taylor had 22 points for the Skyhawks (3-11, 0-1), who dropped to 0-3 against ranked teams this season. They lost to Louisville and Mississippi State.
Murray State is one of six Division I teams without a loss.
The Racers lead the all-time series with Tennessee-Martin 39- 3 and are 22- 0 at home against the Skyhawks.

SEATTLE ( AP) — Mike Scott scored a career-high 33 points and Virginia held off a second-half rally by Seattle.
Playing its first game as a ranked team in more than four seasons, the Cavaliers ( 10- 1) watched Seattle ( 2- 8) shoot its way to an 8- point first- half lead, then built their own 14-point advantage with less than 9 minutes remaining before being forced to hold off the Redhawks’ furious rally in the closing moments.
The Cavaliers won their eighth straight and improved to 10-1 for the first time since 2000-01. They also avenged a shocking 59-53 home loss to Seattle last season.
Aaron Broussard had 29 points for the Redhawks, who have lost six straight.
