FALMOUTH — Nina Davenport found her stroke at the free-throw line, hitting 15 of 17 foul shots in leading the Freeport High School girls basketball team to a 49-36 victory over rival Falmouth on Friday in Western Maine Conference action.
Davenport had a doubledouble with 10 rebounds and added four steals to go along with a game-high 25 points.
Tied 8-8 after a quarter, the 4-3 Falcons jumped ahead 23- 15 at the half. The lead was seven points, 35-28, after 24 minutes, and Freeport pulled away at the line in the fourth quarter.
Morgan Brown added 10 points, 10 rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals for Freeport, while Alex Mitch finished with eight points and three steals.
Ally Hickey paced Falmouth (5-3) with 11 points.
Freeport is slated to host Fryeburg Academy on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., the first of five consecutive games at home.

In Mountain Valley Conference action Saturday, Madison improved to 8-0, while the Greyhounds fell to 3-5 and are scheduled to visit Madison on Tuesday.
“It was a great game and it went right down to the wire,” said Lisbon coach Julie Wescott.
Sam Bruce scored 13 for the Bulldogs, while Lindsey Wiese added 10 and Kristin Wood eight.
In the Lisbon effort, Jessica Campbell and Denise Thomas had nine points each, Bailey Madore seven and Alexa Harmon five, while Thomas also grabbed 11 boards.

On Friday, visiting Nokomis improved to 8-0, but not without a battle from the 3- 5 Shipbuilders, who are scheduled to host Camden Hills on Tuesday.
Morse led 13-10 and 22-19 after the first two quarter breaks, but Nokomis tied the game up at 38-38 heading into the final period.
“We just ran out of gas in the fourth quarter and we didn’t handle our pressbreak very well,” said Morse coach Mike Hart. “But, I thought the kids played pretty well.”
Katie Henrikson led Morse with 15 points, while Kerry Cummings had 12, and Tori Field and Sadia Crosby seven each.
Kylie Richards led Nokomis with 11 points and Anna Williams had 10.
At the foul line, Morse was 10 of 19 and Nokomis 13 of 27.

In a key East-West Conference game on Friday, host Richmond spurted out to a 20- 7 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
The 7- 0 Bobcats, who are scheduled to visit Vinalhaven over the weekend, led 20-7, 36- 15 and 47-20 at the breaks.
Jamie Plummer led the way with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Alyssa Pearson had 12 points and 11 boards, Ciarra Lancaster nine points and Danica Hurley seven assists. Plummer and Pearson also chipped in with five blocked shots each.
Jocelyn Hoyt led 6-2 Forest Hills with 10 points.
At the foul line, Richmond was seven of 11 and Forest Hill one of five.
