AUBURN — Austin Cox had 22 points as the Auburn Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team handed Mt. Ararat its first loss, 60-44, on Monday.
The 5-1 Eagles led 13-12 after a quarter, but fell behind 28-23 at the half and 47-31 through three quarters.
Shy Ulrickson led Mt. Ararat with 12 points, with Harper Moutal adding 10 points and Max Bodmer six. DeMonte Stupinski played well defensively. The Eagles, who visit Bath today at 3:30 p.m., were eight of 19 at the foul line.
Brandon Varney added 13 points for Auburn (6-1), which was 10 of 16 at the charity stripe.
