AUBURN — The Mt. Ararat Middle School seventh-grade girls basketball team lost to Auburn 29-26 on Monday.

Mt. Ararat’s defense held Auburn in check until the last quarter when Auburn outscored the Eagles 16-5.

“ I think it was our best game yet, but Auburn got on a tear in the last quarter and we couldn’t hold onto our lead, which we had the whole game,” said Mt. Ararat coach Brooke Cox.

Nikki Bradstreet led the Eagles with nine points and Sabrina Paetow had four, while Karley McCourt, Lauren Labbay, McKenzie Waether, Katelyn Cox, Samantha Gonyea, Kate Guerin and Mikala Dwelley were offensive contributors.

Auburn’s Chloe Dwinell had 10 points, Olivia Jensen nine and Jordyn Reynolds six.
