AUBURN — Edward Little outscored Brunswick 17-9 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 39-34 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference boys high school basketball victory on Friday.

“We struggled with shooting, and finished just three of 17 from 3- pointer range, 13-of-41 from the field overall,” said Brunswick coach Todd Hanson, whose team is 9- 5 and slated to host Oxford Hills on Tuesday and Lewiston on Friday. “Edward Little is a long and athletic team and did a good job clogging up the lane.”

Trent Anderson led the Dragons with 11 points, with Mitch Black finishing with seven. Ryan Black and Garrett Erb each had five rebounds.

Omar Haji-Hersi paced EL (9-5) with 12 points, while Quin Leary had 10.

Brunswick was four of six from the charity stripe, while the Eddies missed all seven of their opportunities.

The host Clippers improved to 12-2 with a Western Maine Conference victory over 2-12 Freeport on Friday.

“The first four minutes we were competing and trailed just 8-6, but Mitch (Loeman) picked up his third foul in the first quarter, all my fault, and had to come out and that hurt us,” said Freeport coach Matt Cook after his team was outscored 13-0 the remainder of the opening frame to fall behind 21-6.

Yarmouth, led by 30 points from Josh Britten, led 39-12 at the break and 57-20 through three quarters.

Chandler Birmingham canned four 3- pointers and finished with a team-high 15 points for Freeport.

Josh Weirich added 12 points and seven rebounds, Jose Rosquete dished out four assists and Loeman had three steals in limited time.

Adam LaBrie chipped in 13 points for Yarmouth.

Freeport, which hosts Fryeburg Academy on Tuesday, was five of 11 at the stripe, while Yarmouth finished 16 of 26.
