BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College Athletic Department has announced that Maren Rojas has stepped down as head coach of the women’s soccer team.
Rojas has accepted a position at Boston College, where she will serve as assistant coach for the Eagles women’s soccer team under Alison Foley. The Eagles are one of the top programs in Division I, having reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the last eight seasons.
The third head coach in the history of the Bowdoin women’s soccer program, Rojas served for five years at the helm of the Polar Bears, accumulating a record of 39-30-10 and pacing the squad to five consecutive New England Small College Athletic Conference tournament berths. She led the Polar Bears to their first-ever NESCAC championship game appearance in 2007 and returned the team to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000.
Under her direction, five Bowdoin players earned First Team All-NESCAC distinction, including Ellery Gould, who was named Bowdoin’s first-ever NESCAC Player of the Year in 2011.
Bowdoin will name a successor at a later date.
