BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College junior Kayte Holtz has been named First Team All-New England Small College Athletic Conference for women’s ice hockey.
After a breakout sophomore season that rewarded her with All-NESCAC First Team honors in 2011, Holtz returned to the First Team for a second tour.
Holtz paced the Polar Bears in scoring for the thirdstraight year with a leagueleading 32 points on 15 goals and 17 assists through 25 games. Five of her tallies came on the power play, while four were game-winners.
During the Polar Bears’ NESCAC quarterfinal outing against Williams on Feb. 25, Holtz had a hand in all three goals in a 3-2 overtime victory.
Holtz is the first Bowdoin player to earn consecutive First Team All- NESCAC selections since Kristen Cameron in 2005 and 2006. Holtz is the first Polar Bear to lead the team in scoring for three consecutive seasons since Shelly Chessie paced the team for four consecutive years.
Through 77 career games, Holtz has 55 goals and 40 assists for 95 points and is looking to become the 10th player in school history to surpass 100 career points.
