BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College seniors Nathan Mecray and Allen Garner have qualified for the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships to be held March 21-24 at the Indiana Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
Mecray qualified for the men’s 100-yard breaststroke and is seeded 14th in the event with a time of 56.91. He will also compete in the 50 freestyle, where his best mark this season is 20.68, as well as in the 100 freestyle, where is best time is 46.58 this year.
Garner qualified automatically with a time of 2:06.58 in the 200 individual medley, where she is seeded 18th in the nation. She will also race in the 200 freestyle, owning a time of 1:53.43 this winter, as well as in the 200 backstroke with a pace of 2:07.78.
A total of 521 participants (235 male swimmers and 22 male divers; 242 female swimmers and 22 female divers) will compete in the championships. Student/athletes qualified for the swimming portion of the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered.
