BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College women’s basketball senior Jill Henrikson of Bath has wrapped up her Polar Bear basketball career with one final award.
Henrikson, a graduate of nearby Morse High School, has been named an Honorable Mention Division III All-American by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. She was one of just two NESCAC players to garner a selection.
She is the fifth Bowdoin player in school history to be named as a Division III All- American, joining Amy Harper, Lora Trenkle, Justine Pouravelis and Eileen Flaherty.
Henrikson recorded one of the best single seasons in the storied history of Bowdoin women’s basketball by averaging 16.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest. Three times named as the NESCAC’s Player of the Week this winter, she led the conference in scoring, was first in steals (2.7/game), first in free throw percentage (.862) and third in 3-pointers made (53).
On Feb. 11 against Trinity College, Henrikson became the 12th player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points. Despite missing an entire season due to injury, she finished her career with 1,085 total points to stand sixth all-time at Bowdoin. Her 128 career 3-pointers are fourth in program history while her 323 free throws made are fourth. Henrikson’s .832 career free throw percentage is first all-time at Bowdoin.
