To the editor:
This is my first letter to the editor, but I feel I should speak out regarding Angus King’s campaign.
First, we know Angus as a visionary governor of Maine who promoted the use of computers in our schools so that Maine students could participate in the future technical revolution. Without this help, they would have been left behind the rest of the country.
Second, Angus has no baggage or political debts to carry with him to Washington, so he will be our truly independent voice for Maine.
Third, those who know Angus and his history will agree that he is a man of the highest moral character.
Fourth, Angus is a seasoned politician who will vote his conscience every time., with the interest of the people of Maine foremost in his mind. He will not march in political lockstep with either party. We need this kind of man, at this time, more than any other.
Fifth, with respect to all the other candidates, who could represent Maine and understand our interests better, given his governorship of two terms?
Lastly, when you put together all these qualities and abilities, no one else comes close to the caliber of Angus King as a person or our representative, and his experience and insights into our specific needs here in Maine.
Clearly, I am voting for him, and I hope you are too, for all our sakes.
