BRUNSWICK — The Coastal Youth Orchestra 5K and Fun Run, “Go for Baroque … out and Bach,” is scheduled to be held on Sunday.
The 5K course is an out and back run and is generally flat and scenic.
The race starts at the intersection of Old Pennellville and Pennellville Roads, taking Pennellville Road to a right onto Pennell Way, out to Simpson’s Point Road to the end before returning to the start.
The race is being held by the Coastal Youth Orchestra and will benefit the organization’s music programs and summer music camp scholarship fund for youth in the area.
CYO musicians will be playing music at the start, post race and at each mile marker.
Last year’s 5K had nearly 80 runners in the 5K and 30 kids in the Fun Run.
Race fees are $25 for the 5K, ($20 18 and under). The first 100 5K runners to register will receive a T-shirt. Fun Run registration is $10, or $20 including a T-shirt. Fun run participants wanting a Tshirt must preregister.
The Fun Run will start at 9 a.m., and the 5K will follow at 9:30 a.m. Parking is available along the soccer field on Pennellville Road. Race day registration and packet pick up will start at 7:30 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded in several categories.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
