To the editor:
The issues Maine women face need to be brought to the attention of every voter here in Maine.
In Barack Obama, we have candidate who always has had women’s interests and rights on his agenda. He’s helped women fight for equal pay for equal work by signing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act during his first week in office.
He also eliminated co-payments for preventive care like mammograms and contraception, and appointed two new women to the Supreme Court.
Mitt Romney, on the other hand, wants to roll back the clock to the 1950s. He’s taken extreme right-wing positions on everything from denying women the right to make their own health care decisions to “getting rid of ” funding for Planned Parenthood.
On fair pay for women, the Romney campaign said, “We’ll get back to you” on his position on the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
Barack Obama stands with women across the country, and that’s why I’m standing with him in the election this November.
