AUGUSTA (AP) — Gov. Paul LePage’s nominee to fill a vacant seat on the Maine Public Utilities Commission has won Senate confirmation.

The Senate voted 33-0 Tuesday to support a recommendation by the Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology to confirm Mark Vannoy to the commission. Vannoy, an engineer from Waldoboro, currently works as associate vice president at the Wright- Pierce engineering firm.

Vannoy will serve through March 2013 to complete the term of Vendean Vafiades. Vafiades has retired from state service after five years on the commission.
