BOWDOIN — Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department responded to a crash Tuesday night involving a single vehicle that hit a utility pole on Dead River Road in Bowdoin.

Chief Deputy Brett Strout said Jason Beaulieu, 38, of 238 Post Road, Bowdoinham was driving a 2001 Dodge 2500 pickup truck east on Dead River Road and in the area of 678 Dead River Road, as he came around a corner wide, the vehicle tires traveled into the soft shoulder of the road, causing the truck to leave the roadway and hit and snap a utility pole in half. Wires fell to the ground. Central Maine Power was called to repair the lines, Strout said. The crash was reported at 6:26 p.m.

Bowdoin Fire Department responded along with Deputy Matt Shiers. Beaulieu was not transported and no charges were issued.

Gail Rice, a spokesperson for CMP said this morning the broken pole disrupted power for only 57 customers from about 7:30 to 8:20 p.m. Tuesday.
