BATH
The Bath (Morse) High School Alumni Association is gearing up for a series of events for Alumni Weekend.
The weekend kicks off Friday with the annual Blue & White Golf Classic at the Bath Country Club. Nearly 40 teams are ready to tee off.
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 8 a.m. All proceeds from the Golf Classic, co-hosted by the 50-year class of 1962, go directly to the Morse High School Scholarship Fund.
The Alumni Icebreaker Dance will run from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday at the Bath Country Club. The dance is open to all alumni, not just those celebrating a reunion. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted to defray the cost of the banquet and tickets for the graduating class of 2012. Disc jockey Cory Creamer will provide music.
An open house at Morse High School will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Alumni are encouraged to visit the Alumni Room, look at old photos and artifacts, and tour the school, led by current students. Memorabilia will be on sale.
Association treasurer Hazel Rice Meserve (class of 1969) and Association Secretary Vicki Underwood Trafton (class of 1973) will present “Morse High School — More than just a Building” at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in Montgomery Theatre.
Seats in the theater are available — to alumni only — to purchase a plate in memory of a loved one or classmate. Information will be available on Saturday.
The 121st annual Alumni Banquet will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the Bath Middle School gymnasium. Reunion classes ending in “2” and “7” are this year’s highlighted classes, but the banquet is open to all Morse High School graduates and their guests.
Several honored graduates from the class of 1942 and earlier will be highlighted, as well as the 50-year class of 1962 and the newest membersto be, the class of 2012. Last year, the eldest alumna in attendance, at age 105, was Carrie Shaw Day from the class of 1924.
Downtown merchants have opened their display windows for reunion classes to set up exhibits showing bits and pieces of their years at Morse. Downtown Bath will be decorated in blue and white for the week leading up to Alumni Weekend.
Questions can be directed to alumni association president Ann Edgett Carlton (1980) at 442-8343, Meserve at 442-8612, or Trafton at 751- 5035.
