CHARLIE HUDSON and Elizabeth Knowlton were recently honored at the Maine Downtown Center annual conference.

BATH — Two Bath area residents received special recognition at the recent Maine Downtown Center annual conference held at the University of Maine at Farmington.

According to a news release, Charlie Hudson of Hudson Media Empire was honored as a Volunteer of the Year.

Hudson was selected for his work on a video that was instrumental in helping Bath win a Great American Main Street Award in April from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The video, which illustrates the adaptive reuse of Bath’s historic downtown, includes footage of Bath’s waterfront, businesses, parks and festivals, and interviews with community leaders. The video is available for viewing on the visitbath.com website.

“Charlie was wonderful to work with and is a terrific community resource,” said Jennifer Geiger, Main Street Bath director. “He was so generous to lend his expertise to this project. Not only did it help us win the GAMSA, but the video is a great marketing tool for Bath.”

Elizabeth Knowlton, owner of the Inn at Bath, was honored at the conference as a Board Member of the Year.

Knowlton is a two-term board member and past president of Main Street Bath, and has been a consistent partner in improving the organization’s operations. Under her leadership, Main Street Bath spearheaded a successful rebranding for the City of Ships working with Bathbased Briggs Advertising, and expanded activities to include tourism support.

In nominating Knowlton for recognition, current board president Brian Hatch said, “Elizabeth’s leadership as secretary, president and past president has been an invaluable asset to Main Street Bath. Her commitment and enthusiasm to work in the best interests of our ‘Cool Little City,’ which she prefers to do behind the scenes, should not go unnoticed. She represents the best of what Main Street Bath is all about.”
