WESTBROOK – Voters in Westbrook, Gorham and Buxton will be going to the polls next week as votes are set for local school budgets and primary elections for state and local races.

Voting is set for June 12, and the ballots are full in all three towns. The race to replace Sen. Olympia Snowe in the U.S. Senate has attracted the most attention, with six Republicans and four Democrats on the primary ballot. On the Democratic side, Cynthia Dill of Cape Elizabeth, Matthew Dunlap of Old Town, Jon Hinck of Portland and Justin Pollard of Portland are all looking for the nomination.

On the Republican side, Oxford’s Richard Bennett, L. Scott D’Amboise of Lisbon, Debra Plowman of Hampden, Bruce Poliquin of Georgetown, William Schneider of Durham and Charlie Summers of Scarborough are looking for a spot on the November ballot.

There is not a contested race on the Democratic side for the race for the District 1 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives as incumbent Rep. Chellie Pingree is running unopposed. On the Republican side of the ticket, Jonathan Courtney of Sanford and Patrick Calder of Portland are vying for the nomination.

In the state races, Scarborough’s Ruth Summers is running unopposed on the Republican ballot for the nomination in the race for the state Senate District 6 seat, currently held by state Sen. Phil Bartlett, who is not running due to term limits. On the Democratic side, Westbrook’s Timothy Driscoll and Gorham’s James Boyle are both on the ballot. Driscoll is term limited out as representative from House District 126.

In the race for state Senate District 9, Portland’s Anne Haskell is unopposed on the Democratic ballot and Portland’s Kirsten Martin is also unopposed on the Republican side.

In Westbrook, former Westbrook City Councilor Drew Gattine is running unopposed on the Democratic ballot for the District 126 seat in the state House of Representatives. Westbrook’s Matthew Maloney is running unopposed on the Republican ticket, as well.

Incumbent state Rep. Ann Peoples of Westbrook is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket for her seat in District 125. Michael Lawson of Westbrook is unopposed on the Republican ticket in the same race.

In Gorham, incumbent state Rep. Jane Knapp of Gorham is running unopposed for the Republican nomination for House District 129. Andrew McLean of Gorham is alone on the Democratic ballot in the race.

In the House District 130 race, Democratic incumbent Rep. Linda Sanborn is running unopposed, as is Republican Matt Mattingly, who serves on the Gorham Town Council.

Two former legislators are seeking the seat in Maine House District 131. On the Democratic side, Buxton’s Ron Usher, a former state senator from Westbrook, is running unopposed. On the Republican side, former legislator Don Marean of Hollis is also running unopposed to fill the seat held by retiring Rep. Robert Hunt of Buxton
