WISCASSET — Ed Polewarczyk plans to share his experiences of 34 years working on the space shuttle program at 10:30 a.m. June 27 in the Fiction Room at Wiscasset Public Library.

As part of the library’s summer reading program, Polewarczyk will describe a typical space shuttle flight from vehicle preparation through launch, flight, reentry and landing.

He will portray astronauts’ experiences and activities throughout the mission.

He also will discuss support activities and daily operations at Mission Control throughout a mission.

Polewarczyk was a subcontractor working with NASA in Mission Control at the Johnson Space Center.

He also was a member of the team which gave the “Go for launch” of the Space Shuttle.

Polewarczyk retired in 2008 and moved to Wiscasset, where he was just re-elected to the Board of Selectmen.

The theme of this year’s summer reading program is “Dream Big.”

All library programs are open to the public and free of charge.
