St. Philip’s Episcopal

WISCASSET — Strawberries are ripening in the fields, soon to be transformed into luscious shortcakes piled high with real whipped cream, chocolate dipped berries, jam and ice cream cones and more as St. Philip’s Episcopal Church gears up for its 60th annual Strawberry Festival.

The celebration of all things strawberry runs June 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The church is located at 12 Hodge St.

The “event is a favorite of many locals, as well as those ‘from away,’ who look forward to the annual kick-off to the summer season,” states a news release from the church.

This year, Amazing Lou the magician will be performing a family-friendly show at 11 a.m., then will be strolling the grounds entertaining with his balloon animals and sleight of hand. Musicians will also help to create a festive atmosphere. A children’s area, silent auction, plant sale, hot dog stand, lunchroom, and knit-and-stitch table will round out the plans for the day.
