GORHAM – Chefs will vie for the Golden Spoon Award in Gorham’s fifth annual Taste Walk, Sunday, July 15, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The 10 participating venues are the University of Southern Maine, St. Joe’s Coffee, Thatcher’s Restaurant, Amato’s, Gorham Grind, Mr. Bagel, Hannaford, Lucky Thai, Sebago Brewing Company and PineCrest Inn.
PineCrest Inn, 91 South St., is hosting a free Jerks of Grass concert on the inn’s lawn from 12-2 p.m.
With recipes and techniques guarded secrets, the chefs will whip up their signature culinary delights and the public tasters on the walk will vote for their favorite.
St. Joe’s won the award last year; Lucky Thai in 2010; and the university in 2009.
A map with locations, available at venues, costs $5; or $15 for a family. Map sales benefit local nonprofits and help send kids to summer camps.
An event organizer, Town Councilor Matt Mattingly, said Tuesday sales have been “extremely brisk,” with 600 maps already sold.
“I’m expecting a big turnout,” Mattingly said.
