BATH — Habitat for Humanity / 7 Rivers Maine dedicated three condominium homes in Brunswick on July 21 and celebrated its partnership with Greater Brunswick Housing Corp. to build affordable homes for families as part of the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
The dedication ceremony, attended by Habitat staff, volunteers, donors and members of GBH Corp., presented families with housewarming gifts and the keys to their newlyconstructed homes on the corner of Cushing and Cumberland streets.
The dedication also included speeches by the new partner homeowners, a home blessing by the Rev. Karen Foley of Brunswick and a chance for friends, neighbors and supporters to tour the homes and share refreshments.
Habitat partner families are chosen through an application process and qualifying families provide sweat equity in addition to holding a mortgage to pay for their homes. They receive up to a year of home ownership education and support from Habitat and its Family Support Committee members.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
