Katie Mathews, a 2012 Bowdoin College graduate from Cumberland, has been named an All-American by USA Rugby.

Mathews, a flyhalf, was the lone player from the newly formed New England Small College Rugby Conference and one of 22 players overall to receive All-America honors. She was chosen as Bowdoin’s MVP last fall after leading the Polar Bears to an undefeated regular season and a trip to the Northeast Rugby Union finals.

 

John Beatty carded a hole-in-one on the 182-yard fourth hole at Nonesuch River on June 30. Beatty, playing in a foursome with George Beattie, Bob Haley and Dan Grenier, used a 4-iron.

 

Paul Champagne made a hole-in-one on the 190-yard eighth hole at Dutch Elm Golf Course, on Sunday, July 29. Champagne used a 5-iron to make his first career ace, witnessed by Rick Cluff, Cory Hutchinson and Dan King.

Dan Roche got his first hole-in-one on July 29 at Dutch Elm Golf Course. Roche aced the 120-yard 12th hole with a pitching wedge. Marc Chantigny, Mike MacKinnon and Tom Plante witnessed the shot.

 

Jennifer Gagnon aced the 11th hole at Martindale Country Club on Aug. 7. Gagnon used an 8-iron for the 104-yard shot, which was her first hole-in-one. It was witnessed by Jonah Lizotte.

 

Michael Bonzagni made a hole-in-one on the 10th hole at Rockland Golf Club on Aug. 7. He used a 3-wood from 176 yards. Mike Zemrak and Dylan White witnessed the shot.
